Beginning at the initial interview, PPA staff will assess each student’s academic needs. New students will be given a TABE standardized test as part of the registration process. This test will help to reveal existing academic competencies and will help to provide PPA staff with the information they need to better tailor each student’s academic coursework. Each Student is then assigned a personal Advocate who works quite closely with him or her, equipping, challenging, and encouraging them to attain at least a minimum mastery level of 80% and a minimum number of completed weekly assignments.
Every Friday, staff Advocates update parents with a Progress Report of all academic, Life-Skills, and Work-Study progress. Upon graduating from PPA, each student will be retested with a similar TABE standardized test to measure the academic growth that has been achieved while attending PPA.
